Testimonial:

The Redgrave Restoration, Suffolk

"We were restoring a period property and needed a mix of mouldings—paint-grade softwood for the bedrooms and solid Oak for the main reception rooms. Timbersource handled the whole order seamlessly. The Softwood Mouldings were clear and knot-free (miles better than the usual merchant grade), and the Hardwood profiles were machined with incredible sharpness and detail. It’s rare to find a supplier that maintains such high standards across both materials. The finish was so good it barely needed sanding."

What are timber mouldings?

Timber mouldings or timber profiles refer to lengths of wood which are machined to a certain shape. These pieces are often used as architectural elements to create a decorative feature at the transition of surfaces. For instance dado rails, picture rails, skirtings, architraves, covings and thresholds are timber features shaped specifically for these areas and come in a variety of styles. Our mouldings can be a simple rounded edge, rebate or curved design like torus and ogee. We have Oak, Pine, Sapele, Poplar/Tulipwood and other hardwoods and softwoods for mouldings.

Overall, the suitability of each type of timber depends on the project the moulding will be used for, your budget and preferences in colour. If you are still unsure of which timber would be best for your mouldings, contact one of our friendly experts.
