Why is iroko good for outdoors?
Iroko has a high natural oil content and is grown in damp jungle climates which makes it very resiliant to wet weather. This makes it well equipped for wet conditions like cladding, decking and boat building.
Why makes Sapele good for outside use?
Sapele is another oily West African hardwood like iroko and has a similar resiliance to wet conditions making it ideal for outdoor joinery. Sapele grain texture is not as course as iroko and it isn't as rich in oil.
