Meet the staff

Neil Gurman, Operations Director, has been with the company since 2001 and has a degree in furniture design and construction. He is also qualified as a certified member of the Institute of Wood Science and is a qualified strength grader for temperate hardwoods. This enables him the opportunity to give excellent advice to colleagues and of course customers visiting our premises. Neil’s responsibilities involves assessing each order individually and organising his staff to make sure that all orders are serviced efficiently and effectively. Neil’s ability to carry this out with such ease and effectiveness, as well as his keen work ethic, has had a domino effect on our whole team, creating a much more dynamic unit.

Miles Simmons, Sales/purchasing Manager. joined Timbersource in August 2007 and had previously managed a small stockist of English hardwoods and a mobile sawmill operating from Sherborne, Dorset. Primarily serving high end furniture, cabinet and kitchen makers, the addition of Miles to the team has given our team a real boost, ensuring continuing attention to detail and a well-rounded service. Miles' responsibilities include heading up our sales team, all buying and advertising and marketing.

Sam mingeater, Operations Manager,  is Neil's right hand man and is second in command in the mill and warehouse. Sam is also a qualified stress grader of oak and softwoods, trained in measuring, grading, sawing and machining (including edge jointing). Sam joined us in April 2006, and has proven to be a valuable asset to Timbersource. Sam is also qualified as a certified member of the Institute of Wood Science.

Stuart J Kemp, Office Manager joined the company in February 2007 and has been involved in the timber trade from an early age. From 2001 he was a Manager within a large multi-national organisation and has experience in compeitive business environment and business finance. His professional attitude and polite manner has allowed us to operate outside our normal working parameters. Stuart also has a credit pass from the Institute of Wood Science.

David Knight, external sales had been a Timber  Manager for a merchant operation for over 20 years. As an external rep, he is now able to use his experience to benefit our customers. David develops good relationships with our customers and he is well respected for this. His drive and ambition have increased sales and helped with the cohesion of the sales team.

Olive Haynes, secretary joined the company in October of 2006 as Financial Controller and Company Secretary. With many years experience in similar sized businesses in Somerset, she is improving and optimising our accounting functions.
