Timbersource Limited was established in January 2001 to provide a range of timber services to fulfill customers’ needs. Since then, the company has grown significantly in line with rising demand. As a company we aim to please in all areas. Above all, our ability to have such short lead times compared to everyday timber importers has proven to be an indispensible asset to our customers.
Timbersource is located in Marston Park which is a small, private industrial estate on the hillside facing the Longleat Estate in Somerset. Since then, our dry warehousing capacity has increased along with production facilities and external space for our range of air dried timbers including our speciality oak seasoned beamstock.
Although our main business is with trade customers, we also sell to the general public. Typically we will deliver timber within 2 working days to an area stretching across the South West including Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, West Sussex and East Wales (Gwent & Monmouthshire).
Stuart J Kemp, CEO, joined the company in early 2007 and has been involved in the timber trade from an early age. From 2001 he was a Manager within a large multi-national organisation and has experience in business, finance and dynamic leadership. He is a true professional whose aptitude and manner has allowed us to operate outside our normal working parameters. Stuart is currently working towards his degree from the Institute of Wood Science.
Neil Gurman, Operations Director, has been with the company since 2001 and has a degree in furniture design and construction. He is also qualified as a certified member of the Institute of Wood Science, so that he can give excellent advice and insight to colleagues and customers visiting our premises. Neil’s responsibility involves assessing each order and organising staff to make sure that all timber orders are serviced efficiently and effectively. Neil’s ability to carry this out with such ease and effectiveness, as well as his keen work ethic, has had a domino effect on our whole team, creating a much more dynamic unit.
Neil is assisted by an excellent team, headed by his Operations Manager, Sam Hill, who is a qualified stress grader of oak and softwoods, trained in measuring, grading, sawing and machining (including edge jointing). Sam joined us in April 2006, and has proven to be a valuable asset to Timbersource.
David Knight, Sales Director, had been Timber Manager for a merchant operation for over 20 years. As an importer, he is now able to use his experience to benefit our customers. David develops good relationships with our customers and he is well respected for this. His drive and ambition have increased sales and helped with the cohesion of the sales team.
David is ably assisted by Roxanne Flanagan, who joined the company in 2006 to keep in touch with customers and monitor orders through to delivery. Roxy has made many friends amongst customers, who appreciate her conscientious attention to their requirements. She is also working toward a degree in wood science.
In August 2007, the sales team was increased by the addition of Miles Simmons. Miles had been managing a small stockist of English hardwoods in Sherborne, Dorset. Primarily serving high end furniture and cabinet makers, the addition of Miles to the team has given our sales team a real boost, ensuring continuing attention to detail and a well-rounded service.
Olive Haynes joined the company in the latter part of 2006 as Financial Controller and Company Secretary. With many years’ experience in similar sized businesses in Somerset, she is improving and optimising our accounting functions.
At Timbersource, customer satisfaction is paramount and we always strive to give the best service possible. We therefore genuinely welcome feedback in order to create a better customer experience. |
