French Oak Flooring
Our French Oak solid flooring is hugely popular with discerning buyers for these four good reasons.
Excellent Quality
French Oak is grown across the whole country, but we predominantly source timber from the Burgundy and Dole regions. That’s because this area of France is close to the Swiss border and the trees here tend to grow more slowly due to the relatively harsh conditions. This gives the timber a consistent golden brown colour so you’ll tend to have less variation within your order.
French Oak is significantly higher quality than that provided by most timber merchants, who supply 'European' or 'Eastern Bloc' oak. This is oak brought in from Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Eastern Germany. Whereas the French grade their wood rigorously and consistently these producers do not –their grading rules are very ambiguous and variable – the terms “prime” and “rustic” mean very different things to different suppliers so the buyer cannot have confidence in the quality of the timber they are ordering. Timber from these sources will also suffer from huge variations in colour.
We, however, only supply near perfect QF1/2 prime grade, with sound sap on only one side, minimal knots and consistent colouring.

We deal direct with sawmills in France, thereby cutting out the middleman. This keeps our prices for French Oak flooring very competitive.

We have our own mill and machine shop so we can do any re-sawing, cross-cutting, planing, profiling or sanding you require, saving you valuable time and effort.
Speed of Delivery
We carry ample supplies in stock. Because we have our own machine shop we can prepare everything on site - you can have whatever you require without delay.
You can collect from our yard or we will delivery to any part of the country. Delivery is usually made by lorry (curtain-sided for kiln dried timber) or van if it's a small, urgent order. Our regular drivers have considerable timber experience and we are often complimented on their helpful attitude and careful handling of the timber.
